Love to travel Australia, but hate leaving your fur child behind? We have collated the top 5 dog friendly holiday destinations in Australia!
Address: 1720 Tarra Valley Road, Tarra Valley, Gippsland VIC
Best Friend Holiday Retreat is the winner of 23 tourism awards, 11 of which are for the best in Australia! Just over 2 hours East from Melbourne, only 3km from the Tarra-Bulga National Park, and 25min drive from the beach, this boutique dog friendly retreat really has it all.
Dogs are welcome EVERYWHERE! From the securely fenced off cabins to the luxury dog kennels, doggy playground and ball run, and hydro bath hut for dogs…you can even dine in with your pooch in the completely covered BBQ and camp kitchen areas.
Address: 50 Moonee Beach Road, Moonee Beach, North Coast NSW
A beach location with no dog restrictions all year round is almost unheard of these days, that’s why we love Reflections Moonee Beach! Dogs are welcome all year round (yes, even in peak season), and it is decked out with drinking stations, doggie bag dispensers, dog baths and even a dog sitter available to book!
There really is an experience for everyone, with pet friendly cabins and tiny homes, as well as powered and unpowered camping sites available to book. Take your pupper for an early morning beach walk, or explore Coffs Coast’s thriving food and wine scene. Looking for something a little more peaceful? Reflections is also close to gems such as Bellingen and Dorrigo.
Address: 149 Williams Esp, Palm Cove, Queensland
Not only are dogs welcome in this tropical North Queensland location, NRMA Palm Cove also welcomes cats and birds! With powered and unpowered sites available from just $43 a night, this location has something for everyone at a budget price.
Although pets must be kept on lead throughout the park, there are dedicated off leash areas between the Palm Cove jetty and the rocks to let off some steam. You and your fur-baby are sure to make happy memories in this beautiful spot!
Address: 1112 Murat Road, Exmouth WA
It would be hard to find a more picturesque holiday location than this one! There are camping and caravan sites that are dog friendly, a tropical pool and restaurant with dog friendly tables and off-leash beach walks along Bundegi Beach.
Take your doggo to watch the sunset at Vlamingh Head Lighthouse and check out the nearby Whalebone Brewing Co. which is a very chilled ‘beer in a shed’ vibe restaurant with a 2022 Tripadvisor Travelers choice award.
Address: 286 Dora Point Rd, Binalong Bay TAS
For those who like to get back to basics when camping with their furry bestie, the Dora Point Camping Area is free of charge, and you are welcome to stay for up to 4 weeks! There is a swimming spot and abundant rock pools to explore, as well as basic toilet facilities and a (cold) shower.
Set up just metres from beautiful beaches and wake up to the waves crashing, before going on a bushwalk and bird watching adventure.
Do you have any hidden gems you can add to this list? We would love to hear your dog friendly holiday experiences!
